What would a trip to Bali be without a visit to Makro?
Makro is a super-warehouse located on the Bypass Road.It costs 5000rp per shopper( or family group), and does not permit young children. You can either provide your own bags or buy their large Makro plastic ones for 1350rp each.
Bluebird Teksi now have a permanent stand there, so there's no problems with getting a taxi home.

Second day after hubby arrives sees us and our friends heading off to Makro in a Bluebird taxi - about 21,000rp from the Dynasty Hotel, which is dearer than last year,partly due to roadworks/hold ups I think.
We all have different agendas when we go there - hubby to buy bintang, panadol tablets( guess one needs them after the bintang!), batteries, chupa chups (he has a sweet tooth),Mentos rolls & splits/soft drinks.
Daughter was more interested in the Nivea facial cleansers/ exfoliating creams & Starburst lollies, whilst our friend Johhny likes to stock up on toothpaste, soaps, sauces, & savoury packet mixes.
I generally like to just wander around and buy things which look interesting to try, plus the wonderfully flavoured Mr P chilli & garlic roasted nuts. As much as I would like to buy my ABC chilli sauces and similar products here, I know that the weight factor is against me, so do manage to contain my shopping fervour for once!
One of the "new" products I bought this time is really nice. It's called Good Day MOCAFRIO, comes in a 10 pack and cost 8026 rp for the lot. You add just water and ice cubes to the dry mix and it makes a delicious iced coffee drink. There were many other brands and flavours, and I'll certainly be checking out more of them next trip.

Although I didn't buy any this year, stationery products such as Faber Kastel watercolour pencils, origami paper and UHU glue are very cheap.
Toothpaste costs around 30 cents a tube, packet sauce mixes for 30 cents each, a box of 40 packets of noodles with flavour mix for 8,000rp or a bag of 10 for 6,000 -(couldn't quite figure that one out?), and you can buy 3 x ABC chilli sauce bottles for less than the price one costs at the Perth asian stores.
As an interesting aside, we began talking to a local man who turned out to be John from Brown Sugar Leather & Restaurant. When our hubbies and one daughter plus all the groceries, took the last cab at the rank to return to the hotel, he very kindly offered Jud and I a lift to the Animale Factory outlet. We enjoyed his company and shared a laugh or two on the ride back to Jalan Raya Kuta. Unfortunately, we never got around to having a meal at his restaurant at Seminyak, but will endeavour to do so next trip.
