I have used Ketut and his wife Komang as tailors for many years, in fact when I first met them, Ketut was a "house" tailor. They have now upgraded into a shop in Jalan Padma in Legian, as their business has grown a lot over the years.
Their ph no is: 081 236 00523.
Both my husband, myself and my daughter have had tailoring done for us, and we have always been very pleased with the workmanship, prices and the speedy service. We have had a variety of clothing made, from men's sports jackets, trousers, jeans, dresses, skirts and women's suits.
My friend who is a dressmaker herself in Australia, has also regularly had clothes made, and I guess that speaks for itself, as she is very fussy about the finished product.
Komang always offers a fair price when she quotes, although you can sometimes get a small reduction if you are having several items made.
Depending on just what I want made,I sometimes take my own material and metal zips ( for jeans). Materials such as stretch corduroy and mock suede aren't available in Bali, but I find there is a wide range available for men's clothing in particular.
They have a lot of European clothing photos, as well as several Australian pattern books, and other pictures besides, but if you want a reproduction from an item of your own, they do a very good copy.
Lining material isn't usually a problem, but if you take your own material in an unusual shade, it's better to err on the safe side, and take your own with you.
Komang speaks good english, but I still like to stress certain requirements I may be fussy about, like where the first button is to be placed on a jacket, split in the back or not, pocket depth, sleeve length, as I personally don't like them too long, shoulder width, size of shoulder pads (if I'm having them) etc etc.
We have just returned from Bali and again had tailoring done - a beautiful sports jacket and 3 pairs of trou for my hubby, 2 pairs of stretch cord jeans for me, and 2 skirts made for our daughter from the left over material, plus of course the alterations to the Animale dressses.
