Just wanted to let you know the latest on Dreamland
Ask any taxidriver in Kuta as they all know where it is - It should cost 120,000 return - get the driver to wait or to pick you up again
It costs either 5,000 per car or 5,000 per person (depending who is on the gate) to enter the private road to get down there.
Once you get there it is beautiful. The owners of the cafes are lovely, if you see Eric at the first cafe tell him JoJo, Gregg and Mary sent you! The food is great (especially the dreamland burger) and everyone is so friendly. You may get a few sellers come along and offer you goods but they arent pushy like Kuta and are very friendly so have a chat with them! If you fancy staying the night, Eric has just built an amazing guest house - its basic but beautiful - the views are just beautiful and will cost you 150,000 a room per night. Eric even lays on a great seafood BBQ on request.
Now the tragic news - there is talk that Dreamland as we who know it well and love it, will soon cease to exist. The site that was once a village before it was seized and bulldozed is now set to be taken over by a corporation who are going to build a huge resort. All the cafes and guesthouses may be demolished and there is talk that the reef (which makes this more a surfing than swimming beach) will be blown up to make it into a family friendly bay.
THIS WOULD BE AN ABSOLUTE TRAGEDY
Im not sure what we can do to prevent this, does anyone have any ideas?
