Hi Pauline, I have Muscular Dystrophy and am in a wheelchair, my thoughts and suggestions for bali are: We are about to go for our fourth time. The first time we stayed at Ramada Bintang in Tuban. Great hotel for the wheelchair bound. They have an actual room especially for the disabled. The bathroom was fantastic and they have a basin in the room which is a bit lower and at a great height for wheelchair. The bathroom was so roomy and railing everywhere. They have lifts to all levels of hotel so that helped also. This time and with last two times we are staying at Kuta Legian Village Hotel now known as Kuta Lagoon Resort. This hotel in on Jl. Legian near corner of Melasti St. They don't have a specific room especially for disabled but we stay in a villa, which has a step into then flat inside. The bathroom has the biggest shower, you can roll the wheelchair right into it. They have ramps, but you will need some guidance as they are a bit narrow. Breakfast is a buffet and served upstairs but my hubby gets mine and we eat by the pool. The staff here are fantastic and so willing to help in every way. This is our first trip back since the hotel has been renovated. We were there last year in Sept. and renos were half done. We have found Bali easy enough to get around. We do not attempt to walk on footpaths and we did our first trip, we go up the side of the road and the traffic goes around us. I'm really lucky to have such a wonderful husband who helps me so much. He gets me up stairs (two or three) and pushes me around in the heat. It is not easy for him and he never complains. The balinese are also fantastic and will help me whenever we need it.
I hope this info helps and if I can answer any questions you have, please let me know. Bali is a fantastic holiday even if we are a little challenged in our movement.
