I'm currently wearing polypropylene vests (and sometimes leggings as well) under clothing because it is soooo cold here. Bought some raw prawns today and cooked them up with rice and veges tonight with a recipe from my Indonesian cookbook I bought there (okay, I reduced the chillies from eight to four!). Have emailed our driver to say hello and got a response, and have been thinking today of how easy it would be to create a folder for him in English that he can show prospective clients. Have found myself muttering about the poor service in shops here...and found myself trying to negotiate the price of some light fittings down below the ticket price! Bought some bras and baby clothes at the second hand shop the other day to start my next bulging suitcase for Bali. Took our photos of Bali to our favourite restaurant where the little 7-year-old daughter of the owners usually joins us as we eat, bringing her homework or colouring-in. Her family is Laotian but settled here before her birth. She recently had a holiday back to Laos with Mum and sister and was surprised to see our photos of rice fields. I think she now understands a bit more why we love her Mum's cooking! Hubby said something the other day about if I really wanted I could go to Bali for a month to work as a volunteer in a clinic or something similar and I confess my first thought was getting language lessons and updating my first aid skills, rather than how much he would miss me for a month! And I never bought more beaded necklaces for summer..or found another spa for a blissful massage..and there were streets I did not even walk down so close to where we stayed..and I should have bought that second pair of sports shoes I liked...
