That whole strip is still quiet. I was there a couple of months ago and the daughter only a couple of weeks ago. The outlaws only last week. I stayed at the Aston and Nusa Dua Beach hotel, the daughter stayed at the Conrad (like chalk and cheese). The outlaws just back from Putri Bali (nusa dua) very quiet.
Galleria has been closed and boarded up which is a real bummer.
The beaches are really nice and have the usual water sport activities.
I find eating places up there a problem. Although I am not particulary fussy I am careful and if I don't like the look, smell or lack of people, i won't go in.
Not much shopping, but a little at the entrance to Nusa Dua. There are restaurants also like Golden Lotus (I think) it was very nice. Also Traggia shopping centre and a few more bits and peices. KFC.
Money changers can be a hassle, they only have small notes and try to do the usual on you. We change the money when we go to Kuta.
Everything is more expensive, that includes eating and drinking and you like a drink eh tubes? (hehe)
I think I have mentioned before that I like all of what Bali has to offer. What I mean by that is staying in Nusa Dua - Tanjung Benoa is very different to Kuta but I love it all and make the best of where I am.
One of the things that I enjoy is to hire a bike from the hotel (mostly for free) and just cruise around at my leisure seeing everything and doing nothing. Stopping where i want to etc etc etc. I love it.
Anyway that my thoughts.
If you want info on hotels in the area I can give you my view on most of them.
Cheers
