Planning appears to be the case in most of these instances, some service providers believe that 'no news is good news', how far from the truth that is, is beyond belief and yet they still bumble on!

In most instances if someone says to everyone 'We are sorry for the delay, this is the problem, for your safety we will not fly, we will endeavour to fix this however in ‘x' amount of time we will make another decision and let you know'!

Why they think that most people would not accept the truth is beyond my comprehension, they do themselves a great disservice when they try to fumble through.

Most people would accept this situation if they believe that someone is on top of it, and if after ‘x' amount of time people are told that they can not fix the problem, and are asked to go home, and are told that they will contact you by ‘y' time and arrange for your replacement flight, while not being happy at the delay at least you would think you are being looked after.

The unfortunate thing is that Garuda are not orphans with regards to this, but that's not much joy for you, I hope you get away soon.
