I have lived all over the world, but spent most of my time between the USA and Germany. I moved to Australia in 1998 and done some travelling around and I settled in Adelaide.
I have seen the exotic places in the world, and shopping that anyone would adore, plus most of the "famous vineyard" and I must admit, I haven't seen one more enjoyable to my taste then what South Australia has to offer.
I think your statement about restaurants is incorrect; Adelaide has some of the best places to eat in Australia. Pick up a copy of Gourmet magazine and have a look for yourself. You choose the month, as it's always listed.
AFL teams? Maybe the Adelaide crows aren't doing well at the moment, but keep your eyes on port power. They are dishing out beatings at the moment, and their injured players (minus two) are back and getting better and better in form and confidence.
