Ha ha...yes, of course, New Zealand. I am 47, and husband Bruce and I have been to Bali five times now and taken our two girls, now 21 and 23, each time.
Have a wonderful time! Here is some "Mum" advice for you. Watch for pickpockets, especially in crowded places...just be sensible re how much money you carry with you, and keep your cards and passport in the hotel safe.
Take care with little cuts, like from coral, or blisters. Clean them well with antiseptic wipe etc and wear a plaster (good idea to take a few waterproof ones with you). It is easy to get cuts infected, and that can spoil a holiday. Talking about infections, take condoms from home if you are likely to need some. They are better quality. And use them.
Buy stuff from the stalls a few days into your trip...I heard of two young men who shopped first day and paid something like 200% over the going rate for clothes! Ask others where you are staying what they paid...or ask another tourist you see leaving a shop. If your address there is hard to remember write it on a piece of paper and keep it in your wallet to show taxi drivers.
Wear sunscreen! Even on overcast days. Sunburn is another way to spoil a holiday. Swim between the flags. Use bottled water to brush your teeth.
Drink lots of water! Drink even when you are not thirsty. If you feel thirsty you are already dehydrated.
Email, ring or text home when you can...we know you are an adult now but we worry!
