The powerpoints in Bali are different to Australia but the voltage and the hertz value is the same as Australia so you will not be needing a step up transformer to get it to work. but as previously mentioned you can buy the adapter plugs at Matahari's very cheaply.
If you are staying at the Bounty Hotel when you first get there then you dont have to rush to get an adapter as they have double powerpoints in the rooms. One point is Indo and the other p/point is Australian, why other hotels dont do this is totally beyond me, especially as the voltages match.
Which then leads me to other ideas , such as why take up valuable luggage allowance carrying a hairdryer to and from Bali when that weight can be better used for gifts on the way over and shopping on the way back. When you can buy a hairdryer over there much more cheaply than here and then give it away as a gift to a local who may be able to use it in one form or another.
Another point is that Bali is tropical so hair dries in no time at all but if you insist on having the farrah fawcett style hair when you are there , the humidity will kill the style in no time at all.
Cheers PD
ps This is all from a male point of view and, lets face it, what would I know about hair eh!!
