I stayed at the Four Seasons 4 years ago and toured the Komaneka Suites last year. The manager of KS took me around and told me that he is usually 100% occupied but that tourism had been slow lately. The rooms were very nice and the views of the valley were great. The plunge pools were nice as well.
Certainly the Four Seasons and Amandari are the ultimate in luxury but I don't think you would go wrong at the Komaneka Suites at less than half the price!
Most hotels provide free transport to Ubud at set times. The price from Ubud back to either Hotel is about 30000-50000Rp depending on your negotiating skills. No need to worry about a driver unless you want day trips outside of Ubud.
Also, even though Komeneka Suites has a spa, it is very close to Kirina Spa which I would recommend highly. It is set in the most beautiful valley in Bali! Prices are high (for Bali) but a bargain by international standards. Check out their website.
