Hi Everyone! I was going to do this as a Day-by-Day report but funny thing is. as the days went by the scribbles in my notebook got fewer and fewer, and I just collected receipts and jotted the odd key word down instead. So, here we go.
Fifth trip to Bali for my family - Me, husband Bruce, and our girls (aged 21 and 23). On our very first visit to Bali they were only 14 and 16...how time flies!
We flew Garuda both ways and stayed 13 nights at Vilah Rumah Manis in Seminyak, though Bruce and I escaped for two nights near the end of the holiday and went to Tegal Sari Bungalows in Ubud. These are our experiences and impressions. You may not agree with some of them, and feel free to give your own impressions, but with civility please.

THE FLIGHT OVER
Flight left half an hour late, and therefore arrived about half an hour late in Bali. Who cares! Nothing mattered once I heard that hauntingly familiar music as we boarded, and the welcome and safety messages in Bahasa Indonesian.
My girls giggled as usual when the safety video instructors got to the bit where the lovely cabin stewards blow into the safety vest tubes (my girls think the ladies look verrrrrry sensual as they mime placing the tubes in their mouths.... oh dear, what have we raised?)
We had a transit stopover in Brisbane for less than an hour. Garuda did not click (as usual) that many of their passengers on Flight 713 were flying NZ to Denpasar, and showed the movie "Big Fish" on both legs of the journey to Bali. (On the way back I did not note the movies as I was (a) sick as a dog and (b) the monitor nearest us was missing and the hole patched and taped up with duct tape). Food was okay.
VOA was smooth, took about 10-15 mins, then we got three of our bags off the roundabout and waited half an hour or so for the fourth. How do they manage to do that?? Taxis to Seminyak.
