Breakfasts at Adika Sari Bungalows Rainbow Restaurant in Jln Padma Utara and Bali Too in Jln Melasti were two favourite places. Paid about 15,000-20,000 each I guess. Bali Too bathroom okay, but had communal cloth hand towel, which I did not use! JP's Warungclub in Jln Abimanyu (Dhyana Pura) Seminyak was nice for breakfast but looked great for evening too. Interesting live music program at this place. ! It was here we read the latest copy of the Bali Advertiser and a great article about the Adopta ladies. (Went to find them..you have to go a fair way down the gang (lane) off Poppies II to get to them, don't give up, keep walking, they are on the left, logo on the glass window!).

Other meals:
Tekor Bali on beach..go down Jalan Double Six and turn left and you are practically there. Great food, fun to watch sun set, nice staff. We had lovely swordfish, Indonesian fish fillets, daughter had half a duck (bit dry). Was not impressed by number of dogs around and one even came with a diner. When the dog saw a cat and growled and lunged for it I found it hard to stay composed. I am nervous around dogs as I have been attacked twice and found this aspect of Tekor Bali took the edge off my enjoyment there. Bathroom is nice. Communal cloth hand-towel, though.

The Crown in Jalan Legian. Great food and absolutely lovely girls serving there. Their mie goreng is lovely! Nice hand towels on arrival. My girls said the toilets were okay too.

Rhum on Rum Jungle Road. Went there twice. Good food. Large Bintang is 15,000. Toilets good. Gado gado at 22,00 great, Sweet and sour fish at 23,000 good. Nasi campur at 22,000 and Greek salad at 17,000 all enjoyed.

Aromas, Jalan Legian. My favourite place. Toilets are, in the words of my daughter " a spiritual experience" and the food is divine. I am not a vegetarian but we felt full and impressed with the variety and sheer delight of the plates we ordered. Evening menu we got 'East of Suez' and the 'Nasi Campur' plates. Lunch got a lovely avocado salad and their gorgeous steamed date pudding with a toffee sauce and coffee ice cream. Daughter got some lime cheesecake thing she could not finish! Their American cappuchinos at 13,000 each were a treat with cinnamon sticks to swirl in them.

Mamas in Jalan Legian- Bruce and youngest daughter liked to prop up the bar here but said the food was good too. Staff are great fun! Toilets are very nice, with paper towels. Handles of Bintang are 10,000 each and cans of diet coke are 10,500 each. Apparently the goulash was excellent.

Indo National in Jalan Sahadewa. Have enjoyed meals here before but this day we were disappointed. Daughter had a chicken burger, and she said she thought her bun was older than her. My chicken soup was nice. The welcoming hand cloths had that 'left wet too long' musty smell. I was surprised the toilets had a communal cloth hand towel too, considering how easy it is for patrons to share their travel bugs that way (but many restaurants seemed to offer only shared cloth towels). The atmosphere and the cheeky waitresses are great though.

Legends in Jalan Sahadewa. Food good. Toilet good. Balinese Dancer was rather brief and broke the spell for me by wandering about before his stint in his costume, and then as he danced he shook hands with people at the tables. I kinda hoped for more authenticity. Sitting under the stars I had a funny moment as a huge leaf from the frangipani tree we were sitting under just dropped down suddenly, plop, into my handle of Bintang. Staff were great..replaced the glass and beer with fresh new one with no hesitation.

Café Seminyak...main street in Seminyak next to Bintang Supermarket. Interesting range of foods including traditional and pies and pastries.

Practically opposite Café Seminyak is another fascinating eating place...but it is a Deli on the ground floor!! A wonderful deli with exciting range of foods. I bought some great licorice there but the pastries and meats and cheeses looked wonderful too.

See post about Ubud for info on Bumba Restaurant, and the brilliant Tama's Bar and Restaurant and Café Lotus!
