Hi, it must have been an awful experience for you and your husband it sounds scary and extremely frightening. I have lived on Lombok for long period of times and have never had any bad experiences like that. Similar things happends all over the world. It's not an excuse for the locals but to cancell a trip to Lombok because of it like Bob Bali said sounds very extreme . A friend of mine got robbed in Kuta, Bali, 34 mill RP gone, bad things isn't synonomous with Lombok. Where there is tourists around there is also scams. Be very aware and never rent motorbikes, cars etc from privat persons. Almost none in Indonesia have an insurance on there motorbikes, it's not required as far as I know. As a tourist you can be in for a really nasty surprise in case of an accident. It's good that you shared your story so visitors take more care, on Lombok , Bali or other places. Anita
