Everyone is different, depending on price, what yu are used to etc. Legian or Seminyak are good for shopping, restaurants and beautiful beaches.
Some hotels that spring to mind is the Pelangi, Resor. Bit further down market is the Intan. There are many many many hotels.
Good luck, or should I send out a warning to the Balinese!!!!
