kids, Baliphile? ;o) We have just returned from Bali with 140 DVD's. By the time we got the free ones thrown in, this worked out at a total of AU$230 (you wouldn't get more than 10-12 DVD's here for that as you know). We all got to choose some. My husband chose just about all music DVD's, as you suggested. The kids chose lots of movie DVD's which, being kids, they'll watch over & over & over again. AND my kids don't really watch TV but early weekend mornings and wintery days are great for kids' movie days. The younger the kids the more they want to watch movies that they've seen MANY times before. But, even my 8 year old wants to rewatch movies she's already seen in preference to viewing something new. Myself, I chose movies that I haven't seen before. At our local video store it costs $7 to get a movie overnight, then you're up for late fees if you don't get to finish watching (often the case when there's kids in the house - especially if you're watching something that's not suitable for youngsters). Therefore, even if I watch each of these movies only once they're cheaper than rentals. Since we got back two weeks ago we have also lent DVD'd to a friend who was in an accident & bedridden and also to a relo who's kids were confined to the house for a few days. When you also consider the cost of taking a whole family to see a movie (about $42 per movie for us, and we only have 2 kids) or the cost of buying DVD's here, it makes a lot of sense to stock up on DVD's at just $1.65 each. I understand you being baffles, and this is just our reasons, but hope this clarifies it a little for you. Cheers. Sue
