Not totally sure on plan phones but dont think you can use Bali prepaid with them.
You can get global roaming put on ...but too costly really.
By locked I mean..the newer prepaid mobiles are locked into the Telstra or Optus network for a period of time and you cannot use other prepaid cards including Bali ones.
You should be right with your older phones..but to make sure just borrow a prepaid sim card, put it in and see if it works.
Mine is an older Nokia and I use prepaid here.
Works fine in Bali with Bali prepaid.
If in doubt with the plan one just ring Telstra as they will have the correct info on what you can do.
