Yep, I had a truly 'lovely' trip home on and off three flights..Denpasar to Brisbane, Brisbane to Auckland and then Auckland to Wellington, with all the airport time in between. I must have picked up 'bali belly bugs' on our last day in paradise. Garuda Airline toilets were awful. I tried to get a new one each 'visit' but they each had something awful...floor yukky, or no paper seat covers (which rip as you take them out anyway) and two had sinks that did not drain away and had sloppy water in them, and one sink someone had obviously previously thrown up in. One had no paper hand towels left. (At least all had toilet paper). They were not serviced during the Brisbane stopover, or did not appear to have been. Then at NZ Customs we arrived just after a flight from an Asian country and it took ages for the customs guys to go check out lots of unusual food items in big boxes and huge tightly-packed bags. The pervasive odour in the customs area was awful as I stood lightheaded with a queezy tummy for what seemed like an eternity..a potent mixture of what smelled like raw garlic, fish, and something distinctly rotten. I was afraid I was going to decorate the floor before we were processed.
Unpacking our treasures I have already been telling myself off for not going back to certain shops to get some things that seemed a bit expensive then, but now realise were not really...and that I will just have to get them 'next time'
