That's right, Customs are not interested in DVD's, nor is there anything on the restricted list, nor on the list of things you should declare, about DVD's. And they certainly wouldn't hold up everyone behind you at the airport to go through your DVD's looking for multiple copies. You are allowed to bring in gifts for friends, nothing prevents you from bringing in a copy of Shrek 2 for each of your friends.
Unfortunately, some misinformed people made a big thing about bringing in DVD's on this forum, telling tall stories of Customs smashing DVD's, etc, etc. This has made some readers worried, which is totally unnecessary. There is the limit of $400 per person (purchase value) before you have to declare stuff, and might be charged an import duty. But hey, at Bali prices, $400 is more than 200 DVD's per person, which should be more than enough for most of us. So don't worry, buy what you want, no worries at all.
