for a first timer. I have been up there a number of times, but dont bother any more. The hawkers are really 'persistent' and I dont like the 'compulsory' buffet lunch (avoid it if you can).
The scenery along the roadside is fantastic and as you will find, the roadside has many stalls selling gloriously displayed fruits, patchwork, kites etc. Different areas of Bali make different products and as you pass by you see entire 'township' selling stoneware, wooden works, or jewellery etc.
I really love to go down to Uluwatu and you can stop by Jimbaran bay for seafood feast on the beach, on the way back to Kuta. There are monkeys at the Uluwatu temple too.
Tanah Lot is spectacular too, the temple on the waters edge, north of Kuta.
A driver can take you to a number of places in one trip!
