STAG !!!!!

If you do a search in the archives, you will find
and absolute mountain of info on both places.
This should give you enough info to help with your
decision.

I have left info a few times on the LBH (last 2 trips
we stayed at LBH both times ~ April and 3 weeks back).

Personal opinion - LBH maybe better with kids as the pool area
(mainly on the smaller one with the swim-up bar) has more shade
than the Mandira (more trees around / close to the pool).

Just to make it easy for you, here is a copy of a couple
of reports on the LBH (one is V's the Padma)

We have stayed at the Padma in 1998, and at the LBH in April
and again a week back.

It would be wrong to compare based on rating level and price.

The Padma is bigger - pool is much bigger - and yes it is 5 star.
It therefore is more expensive as well.
The room we had was very nice - no problems nor complaints at all.
I would recommend the Padma to anyone AA++

As for the LBH - it is only a 4 star (I think) yet we found it
to be a little more personal that the Padma.
There is 2 pools - one with a swim up bar.
The grounds are immaculate.
The one thing I would recommend people with kids is the LBH
due to the pools having shade (the only shade at the Padma is
sitting at the pool bar from lunch time on).
We chose the LBH for our April trip as we had 2 of our 3 kids (B13 & G12)
on that trip. We went back again just recently for a week with 2
friends. They picked the LBH, so we stayed there again - to make it
easy to spend time with them (we had one week - they 2 weeks).

Food - we had breakfasts at both - Padma had more, yet LBH had a
very good selection. We usually don't eat at the hotels we stay at
(other than breakfast), yet did have pizza by the pool 1 day at
the LBH (too lasy to go for a lunch walk that day). We did have
a dinner at the Padma, they had the Kecak dance on in their outside
theatre (not sure if it is still there ??) - it was a smorgasboard,
very yummy - ate far too much.

The Padma does have an onsite tour desk,if you need it.

Staff - friendly at both for us - no problems with either.

The LBH is currently going through a revamp. They are gutting
villas and doing full reno's. The new reception should be finished
sometime very soon.

Note - we had a Superiour Villa at the LBH both times.
We found them very clean and well maintained.
If you decide on the LBH - and you like a big room - get a villa.
I would suggest for your family group (again with regards to the LBH),
that you get either a Superiour Villa which is 2 sep units - like you
would have say villa 4A & 4B (they have 2 sep units with there
own entrance under the one roof), or the Deluxe Villa which is 3 sep
units, yet they are interconnecting.

The block hotel section is up near the car park - rooms a bit small
for our lot but still ok - our friends (sisters)were happy with their
room there.

So, it gets back to your budget and type of hotel ~
cheaper, smaller yet clean and tidy
bit more expensive, bigger, yet still clean and tidy.

I hope this helps.

The SR are in the front part - when you come down the
drive it is a block on the right. My friends had a room
there on recent trip - we had a Villa again.
They called it the commiss part of the property, although
they did like their room. It was small, yet they seemed
to be happy with it.

It was on the 3rd floor though - they said if they stayed
there again they would at least have 1st floor.

IF you go for a Villa, send the LBH an e-mail (attn: Suwiri) ~
reservation@legianbeachbali.com
If you want a Superior Villa, ask for No. 4 (A or B)
If you want a Deluxe Villa, ask for No. 6 (A, B or C)
They are nice and close to the pool.
We had No. 6B 2 weeks back and No. 5 B & C in April
(we had 2 of our 3 kids with us in April).

While they don't like to book a particular room, I have found
that Suwiri was helpful and we got the rooms I wanted.
