Hi Chris, just came back recently, went with 5 surfer guys, including one who works in a surf shop.
Early on they found some "alright" copies, you could tell they were just printed on, but some (depending on colour) looked pretty good. Also, the thickness varies, check them out. We ended up paying 100,000 for 5 (20,000) each, which is just over $3 AUD each.
A couple of days later we found some good shops (down some alley ways) where they were selling nearly exact copies, especially the new quicksilver ones. My friend who works in the surfshop couldn't even tell the difference. They are really good quality (for bali!) and we paid 30,000 each, but it took a while to get to this price. We were in one shop bargaining down to this, and a balinese was in there watching, grabbed us and took us to his shop and told us he'd do that price. It does pay to look around! The only thing with these good shirts, the sizes were dodgy, so try them on first.
I ended up coming home with about 20 t-shirts and singlets for my best friend (he couldn't come) and he hasn't had any problems re. washing, shrinking etc.
Good luck!
