from Legian, thru Tabanan, Negara, to Gilimanuk. We stopped to watch the ferries from Java arriving and the 'port' then past the really arid NW coast, monkeys along the road side and stopped for lunch at Pondak Sari.
On our journey back south we drove thru Seririt, Mayong and on to Bedugal, just to see some other sights. The lakes before Bedugal are spectacular.
It is very arid up on the NW area.
I believe the Balinese who were relocated from East Timor prior to independence were sent to the NW. They would not have much hope of making a living from the ground there. Some left behind on E Timor their homes and belongings to go to 'nothing'.
