hi, we stayed at the Terminal 2 hotel at Changi 3 weeks ago during our 8 hr stopover - our flights arrived and left from Terminal 1, but the hotel there was booked out. I heard they were both the same layout and costs. It was only a 3 minute trip on the shuttle train (an experience in itself) to the other terminal and all indoors.
There was a really nice pool next door too (complimentary if you stayed at the hotel).
My husband and son went on the MRT to the other side of Singapore to buy some toy they'd spotted when we there a fortnight before and didn't need to pay any departure tax as they had ongoing boarding passes. My daughter and I spent a great afternoon plane watching from our room and shopping, playing on the (free) internet, and watching (free) movies in the airport - I could've easily spent longer there (now that sounds a bit sick - but I wasn't ready to come home!)
