There is a beauty parlor on the main drag in Ubud that has a one-hour massage for about $7.00/US with the tip. Is it "paradise"?? - no, but it's not "scary" either. I'm a firm believer in "high quality" (I've stayed and done the spa at the Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, etc), but if you pay more than $30 for a one-hour massage in Bali, you might as well vacation in France (or some other overpriced destination).
