I spent my free week there last december....good resort, low key, very quiet area where you need a car and take day trips into the mountains. The nearby beach is huge, black sand and beautiful. Tourism is in its infant stage in West Bali, but having seen the island on many occasions, I really enjoyed this "frontier" area. It all depends on what you want.
