My God It sounds like a lot of trouble when it is so easy to get a Bali sim card. If you think the Gday card is the cheapest you will LOVE the Bali SIM card.
It costs 58.000 ($9) with 50.000 credit.
SMS to Australia 5cents. Calls to Australia 5.000 (95cents) a minute. Calls from mobile to mobile in Bali ( much cheaper) Can't remember price.

When you get your card Text those at home. Then they just hit reply to get your number. Easy as pie. Also only those you want to hear from can call you. You need to add the 001 62, drop the first zero off the number (I'll have to check this if you're interested).
If you want to keep in contact with your friends in Bali it is also cheap.
I wouldn't do it any other way now. If you type "SIM" in the saerch above you will find heaps of info on this.
