Thanks for your interesting account, of particular interest to me as I will be in that area in just over 2 weeks. I was in Candi Dasa for 3 and a half weeks last year. Went to white sand beach on the back of a young guy's motorbike. The road gradually deteriorates and the last bit feels like you're on a dirt track almost going down the cliff. I suppose you could call it exhilarating if you're not used to it.
I anticipate spending about 2 and a half weeks, probably split between Padang Bai, Candi Dasa and Amed. I found Kubu Bali on the net and liked the look of it, so I'll certainly be seeing what they will do for me for [say] a 6 day stay.
Last year snorkelled at Blue Lagoon and I'll be going back for more. I've never stayed in Padang Bai, but will be looking for something for a few days. I'm not looking for luxury, but need security for passports etc. Any suggestions Forumites?
