My name should tell it all and I was going to post a detailed reply however, dscottflanders has already done a magnificent job and I can only agree with everything in the previous post. We are leaving on 31/7 (Saturday) for 4 glorious weeks in Bali Hai Resort and will return on 29th August(our 11th stay there) . I have added my email address to this post and if you want to I am happy to answer any Q's you may have after I return (or before if you wish).
In addition to dscott's post I can tell you of 4 restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel,
1) Pantai Seafood Rest - On the beach 150 yards in the direction of Kuta, excellent menu not expensive and really lovely staff. Its great having lunch there watching the waves , Airplanes landing and viewing the whole sweep of Kuta to Seminyak.
2) Green Garden - a hotel in its own right, it's on 2 levels both open air, 50 yards from the beach and directly opposite Bali Hai. Great menu, staff and not expensive.
3) S A Cafe - just up the road and it adjoins the staff entrance, again good food, lovely staff and, once again most inexpensive.
4) Lotus - about 100 yards up Jl Wana Segara, (same st as Bali Hai) built around a pond, open air, excellent food (esp whole baked fish)
and as usual lovely waiting staff. Part of a "Lotus" themed chain.
Also for clothes washing at rock bottom prices there is a shop immediately after SA Cafe that takes in washing, does a great job, all returned beautifully ironed and so sooo cheap. Makes a holiday complete not to have those sort of chores.
Incidently, a new supermarket opened 2 years ago which is only 3/4 km away named "Pepitos". It sells many things, has a good chemist and lot of Aussie type food stuffs if you need them and it is good value.
Hope this helps.
