the record, when we used our Mastercard to make purchases we received a rate of 6,380, when we withdrew from our savings account with a credit union we received a rate of 6,500. At this time the rate on the street was around 6,400-6,450. Westpac didn't charge for credit card purchases, but charge AU$5 for withdrawals(!). Our credit union doesn't charge fees for overseas withdrawals, which is one of the reasons we have an account with them. A post further down also mentioned outrageous fees charges by the ANZ for withdrawals from over seas ATM's.Cheers, Sue.
