Because he didn't ask, and nor were we offering information, he lightly held his hands over areas of husbands body to find out what was wrong. Once he'd decided it was my husband's spine, that the injury was old and serious, there was no way he was giving a massage. He was correct in making this decision. He really is a traditional healer.
Hey by the way... In Lombok i saw sheets of paper at a market i was told were also traditional for healing. To get well the patient had to eat whatever sheet of paper, with writing on it, pertained to their particular illness. I don't know if Sasak people still do that, and we didn't try it out. :)
