It's easy to talk about these things on the forum, but actually doing it is another story. I personally would never do this.
Not all restaurants load their scales, you work out the reputable places very fast.
My advice is choose everything you want then negotiate a total price. You can get a better price most times or a little bit extra thrown in after it has been weighed.
However, as someone else said, its only a few grams and it is much cheaper to start with than at home. I'd rather relax an enjoy myself rather than worry about did I pay $1.50 too much.
