in Ubud - both Zen and Verona have web sites and their services can be booked even before you arrive there.
They are cheaper and better (in my opinion) than the ones I saw in Tuban, Kuta and Legian.
Re: rooms - most can offer a double room. But unless you ask for a double room you should be given a single. If they try and take you into a double - just ask for a single. (from memory this is one of the items listed on the Zen reservation form on-line)
Re:Privacy - Both Zen and Verona expect you to be naked if you are getting one of the messy type of treatments (scrubs, yogurt etc) However they place a towel over your bits. The massage person is usually a girl - but if any of your friends are men they can get male attendants at Verona if they prefer.
To be honest - it spun my out for a moment the first time - now it doesnt bother me. They are discrete - there is no "gawking"at you - just relax and be pampered. If it bothered you - you could always wear an old "thong" and ask to leave it on.
