we are advised, originally got its name from being a location where shoppers could buy garlic from local growers. It was later known as JALAN MENUH, and then later as JALAN SAHADEWA. There are those who travel to Bali & say you can buy almost everything available in Bali simply by visiting Garlic Lane and the markets adjacent to it. As well as the markets on Melasti ST corner, there are also several lanes & alcoves leading off Garlic Lane, plus, renovated Markets on the right at Melasti Corner. There are some good bargains to be had on both sides of Garlic Lane.
