about the road works, as you soon get used to stepping around piles of dirt etc.You just need to be a bit more careful when walking, especially at night. During the day, I did as I usually do, and that is walk along the beach to Kuta although a couple of days I couldn't, due to the very high tides around Full Moon.
Sometimes you had to walk over planks to get to some of the shops, so I did feel a bit sorry for the stallholders.
I found the worst aspect was when Jl Kartika Plaza was designated as one way from the Dynasty to the Art Markets. It meant that coming back to the Dynasty, the taxis had to go right around the long way on Jalan Raya Kuta etc, almost by the airport. Although it was a bit more expensive, it really was the time that the drive took that was a bother. Sometimes as long as 45 minutes from the Legian end!
Just before we left, the road opened up again to 2 way traffic, although it could be a bit of a problem when a bus or truck was coming your way.
I would imagine that by September, the "works" will have moved on further down towards the airport end, although "officially", I think that they are meant to be completed by then.
Please try Kin Khao as it has really flavoursome delicious Thai food.
Quite a few of the dishes are hot, so check before you order if you aren't a "chilli" nut like me! My 15 year old daughter loves it there too.
Sharkeys. What a great place to have your wedding breakfast!I had read a lot of info about the various restaurants at Jimbaran Bay, and may well have chosen another, but because one of our group knew Natalie the co-owner, we went there. I had read both good and not so good reports on Sharkeys, but have to say that for me it was a great dining experience. We had plenty to eat and the prices were very reasonable I thought.
