Kerry & I ate at many of those beachside cafes along the tourist walk, and from memory,I think it was Tekors next to Cafe Sand. Wasn't it a great spot to watch the sunset?
Like you, I didn't get the timing right to eat at Indo National, but have eaten there many times before Kerry & Milton owned it when it was called Warung Mannis. It was an excellent meal then and I think that quite a few dishes remain from that time.
I had Secret Garden on my list of "must dos" but didn't make that either. I had even printed off the discount voucher from their website! I also hear that the Lemon Tree in Kuta has a great cream hair bath,head & shoulder massage, so that's on my list for next year.
