If anyone else may have an interest beyond reading Mills and Boon, yesterday i purchased a book from the 'Travel' section in Angus and Robertson. The author is named John Mateer. The book is titled Semar's Cave, in small print an Indonesian Journal. I dont believe Bali is focused on.

I dont think by any means this book is a travel journal as such from reading the back page....."Mateer brings poetic integrity and a gentle calm to his detailed representatins of daily life in Indonesia. The shock of the foreign is in many ways only the surface layer of the fears and fascinations we assume. More deeply imbedded is the notion that we never really understand ourselves until we become foreign. With that and his ethical focus, John Mateer has succeeded where so many others have failed, by revealing the complex and dangerous liaisons between individual history and mass nationalism." [Brian Castro]

I have not yet started reading the book, and am in no way connected with it, ie: not trying to flog it. Just thought some may be interested is all. BTW the book cost $24.95.
