Most hotels have that rule, so you need to be discreet if you are doing it. I thought the prices at Puri Raja were much too high, so tended not to buy at the pool and I must admit that as a result I spent much less time at the pool than on my other trips. I was last there three years ago and they were charging more than 20,000RP for a small Bintang when the supermarket prices was about 6,000RP. I realise I'll get flamed for being a tight wad, but paying the equivalent of $NZ4 (as it was at the time) for a small beer seemed unreasonable. It was a lot more than I pay back home in NZ
