Anyways change money at the Kodak money changer shops as these are the most reliable & will not rip you off! Or at your Hotel, but for a lower rate!
Change your money as you go along, keeping the rest in your Hotel Safety deposit box...
There are many tailors in Bali & I am sure you will find some near your hotel, or ones recommended here, if you have a certain material you'd like, best to buy that in Oz & take it with you!
For Leather I have a great friend called Nyoman from Heart Beats Leather shop in Gg Benesari (street name) runs parallel to Legian , but closer to beach... He can make jackets, shoes, boots, pants, vests! Whatever! Can't say prices as i am not sure of your style, but I had some boots made a couple years back for about $28, I had the thickest, heaviest, strongest sole put on! I think jackets are around $120...?
You will easily find people that speak English... That question just makes me chuckle!!!!
You can buy bottleed water everywhere & most restaurants use bottled water if not all... Most places are hygenic & clean, I have never ever had any Bali belly or upset tummy, but others do every trip, depends on how iron your gut is, but more alcohol less Bali Belly! I would say luck of the draw, but don't get off the plane & start devouring chillies in everything you eat as it will upset your stomach... Try to ease into the chillies & sambals! (if you can!)
You will be sick of hearing the word "TRANSPORT!" after an hour! There are taxi's everywhere, just be sure to tell them to put the meter on, or simply get out! Most recommends the blue taxi's!
Shopping, the best is anywhere & everywhere!!!
You will have no problem finding shops!!! Or places to shop!
