Your discription of the culture shock remind me of when I first went to Malaysia. I had never been overseas and was totally overwhelmed.
I was terrified to say the least. Wouldnt eat the food because I was frightened of getting sick. I dont know what I was expecting!! Since then have been back again to malaysia, gone to bali and going back to bali in a couple weeks.
It was just that first time and I have been fine going there since and love asia.
