This is a memo I received from my shipper, CAS Cargo in early June. While it applies to containers, the concern on the other end, viz, at the port of entry, is very high.

Dear Valued Clients,
Following is information regarding fumigation new system which needs your urgent attention.
Especially for Australia, this system will be applied on 15th JUNE fumigation date.
If this new procedure does not affect you immediately, still been in mind as it is anticipated that other countries will follow soon.
1. THIS SYSTEM IS APPLIED for destination:- AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND, CANADA, CHINA, MEXICO
2. PRICE - STANDARD 48 Gram/cbm,
I. FUMIGATION TREATMENT (Methyl Bromide):-
1X20' = $ 100
1x40' = $ 160
1x40HC = $ 180
LCL = $ 50 (( $ 10 / cbm))
Air = $ 50 (( $ 100 / cbm))
II. AERASI (Gas clearance) = $ 30 per treatment
3. WORKING SYSTEM:- ( FCL/LCL/AIR)
- After loading container, goods will be fumigated by Methyl Bromide (48 gr/m3).
- Then will continue with evaporizer system.
- After evaporizer, in the container should be space available about L40XW30XH30 cm for fan.
In this space left, they will put the equipment for fanned system.
- This treatment will take 1x24 hours.
- After 1x24 hours, then Aerasi system ( GAS CLEARANCE).
- Aerasi is the last treatment, container can be shipped after Aerasi.
4. FUMIGATOR will issue two certificates ( 1. Fumigation Certificate 2. Aerasi Certificate).
5. This treatment will be guaranteed by Quarantine Indonesia. Any claim of fumigation from Destination country will be responsibility of the government (Indonesian quarantine).
