I hope you have a good guide book such as Moon pulication's
Bali Handbook. DO NOT get a room thru someone at the air port.
Decide where you are going. Ubud is great, cheap, charming and
central. Get there by taxi from the airport for about $10 US max.
Lots of nice quiet homestays off Monkey Forest Road, starting
at the top near the Market. Also, Jl. Tebasaya off Ubud main
road (by Oka Kartini Hotel) is a short walk and quieter. A
neighborhood feel. These places will cost you about $3 -5 US
per day including breakfast. A place with lots of foriegners
and very friendly is Rona's Accomodation on Tebasaya. Helen
