Do you remember, those days in September - Back in 1970 when Bali
had no Rolfs' and days were mellow. Been there, done that - Years before Poppi's and all that jazz..... Ba Bagus watched over a 7 room place a few hundred feet off the beach and for 50 cents a day, including tea and banannas we luxuriated in all that was Bali. Brought in the first surf boards, set up Dzenik, the three sisters commander. makan banyak, minum banyak, esop banyak....Boleh Tahan Lah,,,, what ever you do, don't forget the lah...
Well, I'm going back there, retracing footsteps and wondering if any landmarks of old Kuta will still be there - got to be something,,, some few thousands of grains of sand on the beach, perhaps -- I know I'll find them - The ones which assumed magical patterns in my shroomy eyes.... Or a few grains which lay under our bodies when we made love at the almost edge of the waves, later; That beautiful night.....
Sat on a blanket with a tall, Blond American girl who had travelled for three years across the middle east and all of Asia, ending up in Bali. Fell in love with her as she managed to put seven papers together and roll and incredible, definately noneditable but definately smokeable beauty.......100 yrds away, a spontaneous Kris dance......
Where are you, George, Bob Tinggi and Smokey and Paul & Peggy,,,, the dragoness from Singapore.
In a few weeks I'll be back there - getting excited
Selamat Jumpa lagi sekali.....
