The reasons I can think of that some people might find difficult to manage with children (although I don't think most people find it a problem)are:
- heavy traffic in some areas (notably Kuta/Legian, anywhere else it is not too bad for crossing roads etc Denpasar is busy also)
- very very fussy eaters, if kids are very fussy you might find it difficult to get them to try satays etc but there is plenty of Western food anyway ("waaah, but its not exactly the same as home"). This should only be a problem for children whose parents have LET them become terrible eaters, if they won't eat in Bali, they won't eat anywhere!!
I would just advise people to take it a bit slower with kids (heat can really get to everyone - make sure they're drinking plenty, always take a bag of drinks and snacks when you go out for the day to stop headaches from heat, hunger and thirst). Bali has so much to offer for kids - the sights, the culture, the Balinese love kids and definitely do Waterbom Park. Oh, the other group of families that Bali wouldn't be suited for is those adults who couldn't even stand the five star hotels there (and there have been people like that on the forum). But I would NEVER hesitate to take children there!!
