I've never had any trouble at all traveling with film or videotape flying out of Bali, and I travel with a lot of film and videotape. If you are mailing videotape back to friends in Bali, however, you need to fill out a form describing what's on it in detail. My understanding is it may be viewed. However, I did this once and had no trouble, and the videotape was received.

If you are bringing IN videotape, they may ask you about it as they are concerned about content on videotape brought into the country. I've never had it confiscated or viewed however. I have heard flying into Jakarta with various media materials is more difficult, but I have no way of knowing first hand if that is true.
