Developing film while backpacking?

I'll be backpacking around Asia for a couple of months and wonder:
-Which camera is best to bring? My APS or my regular one?
-What is the best way to do with the film taken? Should I process it along the way or wait until I get home? Should I carry the film or the pictures while backpacking or should I mail them home?

Will be happy for any help.
