Unless you have a very fast internet connection, downloading MP3 files can be a real pain! A typical song is about 3-4 Megabytes or more (note: that's a song, not an album).
There are many MP3 compilation CD's available around Bali. Typically, they contain about 12 entire albums (just think of the downloading time you can save by buying them). Of course, compilations may not always have all the material that you actually want to hear...but if you want some stuff to play on your new little Rio, they're a great starting point. At PLATINUM (in Denpasar), they cost Rp35,000 each (last February). You can find their address in this Forum's archives (search for "pc software/computer software"). If you can't find it, feel free to email me and I'll send you their address.
MP3.COM has had a deal recently offering "103 of The Best Songs You've Never Heard - Volume 2". While some of the material is a bit suss, there are some gems amongst it all as well. The cost? FREE! (If you live outside the US, you just have to pay US$4 for shipping). Check it out.
