unfortunately I have to say, that Padangbai ist very poor at nice accomodations. We also were looking 2 weeks ago for the same as you do in Pdb., but the only thing we found were small losmen (some quite nice, but full, others very ugly) and only one hotel there, nothing special, about 80 (!) US$ per day.
So we went frustrated direction Candi Dasa and found the Balina Beach Ressort, located ca. 5 km outside CD directly at the beach (yeah, really!). You will see that it's 12 years old and not ****, but it has a pool, some nice and clean rooms and bungalows with ac, (but check out before!) and very nice staff to a reasonable price: We paid 40 US$ a night incl. breakfast (official price: 70 US$).
