It all depends on what you are planning to do whilst in indonesia, if you are planning on staying in Bali's more touristy places like Kuta etc or island hopping to REMOTE or RURAL areas such as the Gilis

I would say take all of the information from this forum that you can about what to do, where to do it and all of the great tips available but When it comes down to health issues, ask yourself whether you should heed the advise of a worldwide health organisation in charge of preventing epidemics or a few seasoned tourists who have been lucky enough not to have been infected.

The anti malaria medication is not really all that much hassle to take, it is (depending on what you take) either once a week if you use larium- popular in the US (questionable side effects) or a Cloroquinne and something whose name escapes me which is two tablets at the same time each day and two tablets at the same time each week.
