I don't know if AOL allows but most ISP's accomodate using remote email checking programs. One I've used is at www.mailstart.com
After going to this website you will be asked to type in your email address and your mailserver password (which you should already know, but if not, check with your ISP.
You can then check your new emails, save, delete, respond, etc. It's all free and best of all it can be done from any internet cafe in Bali, which means you can leave your laptop behind.
